How Ad Space’s Clutter Decreases Your Site’s eCPM

Jul 8, 2014 in News

Before submitting your website to Fidelity Media network, please make sure that all ad units appear correctly and comply with our guidelines. While reviewing new websites our managers often face a problem of excessive number of banners located on one page, overlapping or placing majority of ads at the top or bottom of the website’s page.

Between 1 to 6 Ad Units Per Page

The allowed number of ad units varies between 1 to 6 per page depending on the site content, structure and appearance. However, it should be noted that the inappropriate quantity of banners makes your website’s page look cluttered. Pursuing more revenues, please remember that placing excessive advertising, in the long run, is not the profitable solution.

Ad Clutter

Avoid Clutter and Automatic Redirects

An excessive density of ad units influence consumers’ perception of the product or service devaluing the effectiveness of commercial message. In most cases users just leave websites overwhelmed and distracted by ads since it’s hard to focus on the page content. When they do stay, they completely ignore banners.

Another reason to leave a site is an interference with navigation. Such deceptive practices include ads blocking main menu or toolbar and automatic redirects with malicious pop-ups that disturb scrolling. We suggest you resist the temptation to attract users attention this way because in the end it’s not economically efficient.

The point is that all above mentioned things are annoying your visitors and ultimately decrease your eCPM and fill rate. It’s in your own best interest to make professional, high quality website to become a premium publisher. It’s no doubt that well designed site with consciously placed ads is more profitable in the long term than a kind of ad-spam business.

Please make sure that ads are placed correctly in appropriate manner, it is critical for advertisers and therefore for our brand safe ad network as well. So, please take an extra effort to keep pages look clean and inviting.

New publishers are always welcome to register at Fidelity Media.
